Light and Optics Videos
To help clarify different sources of visible light we encounter most often, the following videos can help supplement your understanding:
Phosphorescence (In contrast to chemiluminescence)
Bioluminescence (This is a documentary; long but very interesting. Explanation of fireflies bioluminescent abilities at 22:00)
Recent Science Quiz for Cells & Systems
Get ready! Next week you will be getting back your Cells & Systems Quiz for your review.
Math Questions Sets for Integers
By Monday you should have the following question sets completed:
p. 68-69 # 5-20
p. 73-75 # 3-21
On Monday, your understanding of these types of questions will be checked and we will be moving on to some practice on division of integers and BEDMAS questions.
Planning a Trip Using Integers
Today we began an activity using integers to budget and plan a trip to a place of your choosing. Here is the situation:
You are 22 years old and have saved some money to go on a 2 week trip that is completely paid for by yourself. You may travel by yourself or with others and can be to any city (or multiple cities) in the world, but it must be an international trip (outside of Canada). You will need to consider any area you will need to spend money as a negative integer. The money you start with is the positive integer. The following are some questions you will need to consider:
Field Study on Wednesday
Wednesday April 25, one of the Grade 8 field studies is heading out.
Students not attending: We will still be running and delivering valuable curriculum at the school, so it is a regular school day for those not attending.
Attending Students: For those students going, make sure to take a look at your packing list and bring the necessary items (cough*extra socks*cough). Feel free to drop off packs on the Tuesday night if bringing your things is a no go for the bus in the morning.
We will be returning on Friday April 27 after regular school hours, so students will need to be picked up, packs and all.
3D Tessellation Project
The 3D Tinkercad Tessellation Project was due today: Monday, April 9th. If you need to reference the requirements of the project, look to the left and click on Unit 3: Geometry where you can access all information and materials about the project.
Science Quiz (First Half of the Bio Unit)
There will be a quiz on Thursday, April 12th. Below are links to both the review checklist and review booklet (only up to page 7 for the review booklet, tissues).
