Field Study Coming Up Friday!
The 108s are going on a walking field study Friday to try their hand at climbing. Make sure they are dressed for the weather and bring a snack!
The Math Assessment is Moved
The math assessment is moved to Thursday, Dec. 14 due to a new member of our classroom...
We have a class pet!
Expect the kids to be bringing home a form introducing our new class pet (name to be voted on). This little guy is a juvenile leopard gecko. Although no one will be able to handle our new friend until he/she has acclimated to their new environment, there is a letter of permission that needs to be signed if your child wishes to handle the lizard.
They are quite docile, but there is a chance of a bite as it is an animal that can react that way if it feels threatened. We will not know the gender of our little friend until sexual maturity has been reached. The research we complete to properly care for this leopard gecko will go along nicely with the next unit in science: Cells & Systems.
Next week, we will hopefully have a live feed of our leopard gecko as they have a nocturnal sleep pattern and will be more active at night. And coming soon will be an instagram dedicated to the 108/102 class pet. The instagram will be run by me with certain kids taking on "the post of the week" about our leopard gecko that centres around some key aspect of its care or behaviour.
